League Table On the night of the matches, a text from The Hope Inn reporting a 4 Singles and 1 Doubles win was received by the Secretary, but a later text from the Charlton Hotel saying it was a 5 Singles and 0 Doubles win for The Hope. After the Secretary received the card, it was obvious the game results had been changed to favour one of the Charlton Hotel players, as he was tied for the Player of the Year title. The table was first published with the 5 - 0 result (after the text from the Charlton Hotel), but after investigating, it appears both teams conspired to fix the result after the match to give one of the Charlton players a Singles win, and The Hope Inn enough points to win the Division (which the first text did), as one of the players from the Rose & Crown went to the Charlton and The Hope Inn found out the Rose had only got 2 points from their match with Donovans. At the League meeting on Monday 13th April, it was decided that the result would not stand and both teams would not be awarded any points for the match for conspiring to cheat. This means that The Hope Inn end the season in 3rd place, not 1st or 2nd as they had tried to fix, and the Watermans Arms 'A' finish in 2nd, and will be promoted with the Rose & Crown Rejects to the 1st Division for next year.
